I ask you to kindly show this list to your friends who are interested in North German plants and to send it back to me as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I could not offer any rarities for this first offer; however, I think that I will be able to send you a list of very rare species from Upper Italy, Russia and Croatia at the beginning of September this year, when I will have returned from my journey from Piedmont. As far as preparation is concerned, I would like to point out that I only supply scientifically useful, well-dried plants, and that in abundant specimens.In order to relieve you of a task which is extremely time-consuming, I have, as I know that you are very busy, prepared a second list which contains all those Portuguese plants which are missing from my herbarium. Anything you send me of these species in 1-2 copies will be most welcome. I would ask you to keep this list as long as we are in exchange with each other and to kindly delete the plants sent to me. As for the rest, I would like to note that it is probably best if we exchange cards, letters, parcels etc. franco for franco, but in the case of parcels, notify us by postcard a few days before sending.
